Talavara Winton fancy

"The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL. Talavara and Stomp are the only two runners with much in the way of worth-while form in the Central Handicap, main event and first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Winton Trotting Club’s Autumn meeting tomorrow. Talavara, which won three races in successive starts earlier in the season, looked the unlucky runner at Wyndham at his last start. He did not get a run at any stage of the final furlong and made a late dab for fourth. He strikes a much weaker field tomorrow. Stomp is the one most likely to match Talavara. He is a front-runner which runs his races out strongly. His last-start second to Mister Smart, after losing ground at the start, was a particularly good run. Calm Sue has shown she is a better stayer than most and she will be one of the likely prospects. Donna Charles is a good deal more capable than her latest racing would suggest, and Lady Choice was a sprint winner during the holidays. Of the others, Dresden Blue is the most likely to cause an upset. He has run some first-class placings this season, particularly his second to Sharlea in the Invercargill Cup. The last-start winners, Johnny’s Brother and Adios Adieu, will clash in the second leg, the Lochiel Handicap.

Johnny’s Brother beat a strong field at Forbury Park at his latest appearance after being at the rear of the field with two furlongs to run. It was an exceptionally good performance.
