Tribute to trainer

(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. The top Australian jockey, G. Moore, yesterday paid tribute to the trainer, E. Fellows, who died in France on Monday. Speaking from his Sydney home, Moore said Fellows had been a long-time colleague and close friend. He said Fellows had been an extremely good trainer who had better than moderate success with his charges. “I rode a couple of horses for him while he was in Australia but never with much success,” Moore said. “But I was the one who persuaded him to come to France while I was there in the 1960 s and I got him his first stable with W. Guest.** Moore said his son Gary, at present in France, had ridden for Fellows recently. “It will hit Gary the hardest,** he said. “Fellows was like a second father to him in France.”
