After racing only moderately reached top form at last two starts with easy wins at New Plymouth earlier this month. In similar form should go well again even in this company. I. Cot ven. 7 3923 TOO BAD (1) 7-12. With string of minor placings this this season is well overdue for a win. Bit unlucky last Saturday when tliird behind Antenor and Alison at Paeroa. Good third two starts back behind Silver Knight and Dare Devil at Riccarton, but never in it at Paeroa last Saturday. Good stayer at best but might need softening of the ground. D. Looked to be nearing form again two starts back with bold showing in Matamata Cup but faded badly at Pukekohe on March 6. Has had good many opportunities this season without being successful. Hard to fancy. . 17 0646 LUCKY STEVE (19) 7-5. Fair races at last two starts over middle-distances at Hawera and New Plymouth. Faces tougher company here but could improve further. 18 7807 MY VOLI (23) 7-5. Battled on fairly well at Paeroa last Saturday. That was best run for a while. Easier track would probably help. N. Reached top form in last four races with wins over two miles at Te Rapa and middle distance hack class at Gisborne. Light-weight with a stayer’s chance. Taylor. 8 2625 EVENSTEAD (4) 7-7. Spoilt chance last Saturday at Paeroa by losing ground early. Solid second to Sharda at previous start at Te Arona. Always a good chance. 9 8794 CAPITAL JEST (12) 7-5. Shower promise when resuming after a spell when fourth behind Monander at Paeroa on March 13. Revels in soft going and worth following through into the winter. N. Riordan. 10 3067 FINAL GUY (15) 7-5. Never looked dangerous at Paeroa when resuming after a spell. Looks useful but might be outpaced here if track remains firm.
