A. Harvey forms subsidiary
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 24. Alex Harvey Industries, Ltd, has announced the formation of a private company, as a wholly-owned subsidiary, to further the investigation and development of the scheelite field at Glenorchy in the South Island.
The new company will be named New Zealand Tungsten Mining Corporation, Ltd. The company will have an initial capital of slm. A.C.I. Minerals, Limited, a subsidiary of Alex Harvey Industries, Ltd, started investigation of the scheelite field, where the company holds 68.000 acres in mineral prospecting privileges, in October, 1968. Since that time detailed geological work has been carried out in selected areas, and this has provided enough information to justify the proving and development programme which is now in progress. This programme, which is expected to be completed by mid-1971, is largely concentrated in a block of 150
acres, and involves underground exploration and development of the ore body, the establishment of mine and head works, a preliminary processing mill and the construction of housing. The objective of the programme is the delineation of sufficient ore to establish a mining undertaking.
The ore will be processed through the preliminary mill so that an accurate assessment of ore grade can be established, and the milling process design completed. The subsidiary company, A.C.I. Minerals, Ltd, under a new name, A.H.I. Minerals, Ltd, will maintain its interest in exploring for, and developing other mineral deposits.
