Bus drivers’ officers

Christchurch Transport Board bus drivers polled heavily yesterday in the elections to select, replacements for the union president and vice-president whom they dismissed from office last month.

The new president is Mr D. Delaney, who had been president of the union for many years some time ago. Two vice-presidents were elected, both of whom have served the executive of the union in the past. They are Messrs W. Cooper, a former president, and N. Uttridge, a member of the present executive.

Neither of the recently deposed officers stood for reelection.

There was also a closely contested ballot for the position of secretary to replace Mr N. Gray who retired earlier this month. The new secretary is Mr K. Challender. Mr N. Davis was elected to the union's executive to fill the one vacancy there.
