South Pacific Year Booklet
About 1400 copies of a 31page booklet, “South Pacific Year —1971,” have been purchased by the National Council of Churches for distribution free of charge to ministers of the council’s member churches throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The director of the council’s Christian World Service Department (Mr F. G. Heard) said yesterday that the distribution was being made to encourage churches to take more interest in South Pacific Year. The booklet, which has been published by the South Pacific Year Committee, includes contributions by the Minister of Maori and Island Affairs (Mr Maclntyre), the Ombudsman and president of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (Sir Guy Powles), and the director of the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research and chairman of Volunteer Service Abroad (Mr J. W. Rowe).
