RACES AT EASTER

The champion New Zealand mare Stella Frost has been nominated for three feature events at the three-night Easter carnival at Harold Park, In Sydney—but Is likely to go home Instead, Her New Zealand trainerdriver, D. J. Townley, yesterday entered the mare for the Tornado Stakes on April 2. the Free-For-All on April 8 and the Lord Mayor’s Cup on April 16. But Townley said last night he had been trying to book passage for Stella Frost on the freighter Maheno. The shipping agents had told him they could not take Stella Frost unless another five horses were available to make the trip to New Zealand. Last night only four horses had been booked for the passage. "If I can’t get on the boat, I will have to contact the owner and see what he thinks about starting her In the Tornado Stakes’’ Townley said. “But frankly I would prefer to have her back home so I can let her down.” Townley wants to give Stella Frost a let-up before going to the United States next month. There she will represent New Zealand in the $lOO,OOO Martin Tannenbaum International Pace at New York’s Yonkers Raceway on June 4. She Is also scheduled to contest the Good Time Pace on June 11, and the Cardigan Bay Pace on June 18. Stella Frost, the runrier-up to Junior’s Image in the InterDominion Championship final at Christchurch last month, showed her class to win the Hurricane Stakes at Harold Park last Friday night
