Bus drivers vote today
Christchurch Transport Board bus drivers will vote today to select replacements for the union president and vice-president whom they dismissed from office last month. They also have to elect a secretary’ to replace the man who resigned for business reasons soon after being confirmed in office by a slender majority, and there is one position on the executive vacant. There has been no dearth of nominations. Five candidates are standing for president, seven for vice-president, two for secretary and 10 for the executive. Those standing include two former presidents of the union, though not the one who was recently deposed.
