Unemployment unchanged
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 22. The number of people registered as unemployed with the Department of Labour had remained at the same level for a fortnight, said the Minister of Labour (Mr Marshall), today. At February 26, the total was 1215, on March 12, it was 1216. District unemployment figures (with the previous period’s figures in parenthesis) include: Blenheim (1) (-), Nelson 12 (18), Greymouth 35 (39), Christchurch 149 (162), Timaru 20 (13), Oamaru 6 (5).
Witnesses sought—The police would like to hear from anyone who saw an accident in Blenheim Road, near Dalgety Street, in which a 62-year-old cyclist was killed in a collision with a car about 10.20 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses are asked to get in touch with the motor accident branch at the Central Police Station.
