‘Staggering’ loan
The $400,000 sewerage loan issued in February was still "staggering along” and only $33,000 of the issue had been taken up. The loan had a week to run before closing, said Mr G. A. G. Connal, chairman of the finance commatter of the Christchurch Drainage Board meeting last evening. “The old loans are still going well. The situation with the new loan is somewhat to be expected, but it will be nevertheless very disappointing if the loan is not substantially filled. “We have the men and the tools for the work—all we need is the money. Our underwriters will be greatly disappointed if they have to take up a much greater amount of the loan than they expected. It could affect our loans later this year,” Mr Connal said.
