Film scenes restored
Australia’s newly • constituted Film Censorship Appeal Board has come out on the side of sex in its first decision. The board has substantially upheld an appeal against cuts in the American film, “Watermelon Man,” which had been made by Government censors for indecent dialogue, incitement to drugs, a sex scene; and a Close-up of go-go dancers. The board reinstated all the scenes except one sentence of dialogue, which, it. held, marijuana smoking, and two sentences containing a four-letter word. The board was set up last year by the Customs Minister (Mr Donald Chipp) in a move to rationalise Australia’s much - criticised censorship system.
