Abortionist disbarred

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)

LONDON, March 22. A London surgeon has been found guilty of serious professional misconduct, in canvassing for abortion patients through taxi drivers who collected foreign girls from Heathrow Airport. Dr Derek Segall, aged 43, was ordered to be struck off the Medical Register by a Medical Council disciplinary committee. Dr Segall, who said he could earn £45,000 a year, was also found guilty of not providing adequate treatment for a woman treated by him at a North London nursing home. She was allowed to leave the home only two, hours after her abortion, "notwithstanding that she was not in a fit condition to travel,” the committee was told. The committee accepted that Dr Segall had told a taxi-driver, Mr David Gordon, that he would pay him 1 £l5 for every patient delivered. Counsel for Dr Segall told the inquiry that the doctor was- “very deeply incensed at the very blatant way his practice was being filched by others.”
