"The Press” Special Service OAMARU. Form followers had early set-backs at Oamaru yesterday, Ernie's Advice and Lynwood Lass returning $51930 for $1 in winning the on-course double. Ernie's Advice's win in the Kakanui Hack Handicap was the second of his career and his first since the Ashburton meeting on March 17 last year. Yesterday he beat the Riccar-ton-trained favourite, Pukeiti, by a length after leading from the half mile.

Ernie’s Advice is owned by Mrs W. P. Pateman, of Timaru, who has had moderate luck in her racing ventures since William Paul won a New Zealand Derby for her in 1957. Pukeiti improved her con-; sistent record s\ith her second yesterday. She held off a strong! late run by Pinetree by half a I length. Crystal Flight began i well, lost her position, and came back for fourth, ahead of the! second favourite, Longslip, I which had the run of the race! but weakened.

Dryden, at Kurow and raced in partnership with his wife, caught punters unawares in the Landon Stakes when she finished three-, quarters of a length clear of Light Claret after disputing the pace to the straight. She paid $74.70 to win.

Light Claret ran on well from mid-field to cut the favourite, Sierra Blanca, out of second by a length and a quarter. There was a gap of four lengths to Khash. which finished well after drifting at the start.

Didham his first winning ride after a short term of suspension when he narrowly beat Merry Whistle in the Novice Stakes. Centre Gallery covered extra ground, coming from well back to take second by a length from the weakening Irish Hope, which ! ran clear at the seven furlongs.
