N.Z. girl S.E.A.T.O. secretary
A New Zealand woman, Miss Veronica Williams, of Lower Hutt, will soon be attending her eleventh South-East Asian Treaty Organisation council meeting. Miss Williams (photographed above in her.office at S.E.A.TO. headquarters in Bangkok) will fly to London late next month for the meeting.
She has been a conference secretary at 10 previous meetings of the eight-nation defence alliance. For a veteran conference worker, she
is showing plenty of enthusiastic anticipation. Miss Williams finds her duties with the international organisation provide her with a varied work routine. “It also gives you a wonderful opportunity to really learn to appreciate peoples belonging to cultures very different from your own.” The daughter of Mr T. S. Williams, a well-known tennis instructor, Miss Williams was working with the Department of Agriculture in Wellington when assigned by the Government to tne staff of S.E.A.TO.
