High school extensions

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, March 22. The Ministry of Works has been authorised to accept a tender for the erection of a new five-classroom block and the remodelling of the main school building: at ' the Rangiora High School. This advice was given to the Member for Rangiora (Mr H. E. L. Pickering) by the Parliamentary Undersecretary to the Minister of Education (Mr Gair). Mr Gair said that the contract will be awarded to the J. J. Construction Company, Ltd, which had submitted the lowest of the four tenders received, $100,979. The contract includes the erection of a two-storey classroom block comprising three classrooms, a typing room, a geography room and ancillary works such as a book store, cloakrooms and toilet facilities. In addition, some remodelling of the main school block to improve library and staff accommodation will be done as'part of the contract, Mr Gair concluded.
