Social-worker authority
Professor J. Spencer, a leading British authority on social work arrived in Christchurch yesterday afternoon. He is touring New Zealand under the sponsorship of the British council in conjunction with the New Zealand Association of Social Workers. Professor Spencer, chairman of the British Council and professor of social administration at Edinburgh University, is an authority on criminology and urban sociology. While he is in Christchurch Professor Spencer will be visiting the University of Canterbury and social welfare services in the city. He addressed members of the Christchurch branch of the Association of Social Workers last evening.
