FALSE BILLS POSTED
‘Establishment vulnerable 9 (N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, Mar. 21. Three young San Franciscans who admitted sending false bills for $76.40 to 20,000 people in middle-class neighbourhoods have been arrested by Federal authorities. They were accused also of sending animal excrement through the mail, in letters announcing the bill hoax to the news media. •
Marc Keyser, aged 29; his wife Terri Keyser, aged 24; and David Shrer, aged 23, were arrested two hours after they told a press conference that they sent the false bills at a cost of $2150. They were released on bail of $lOOO each. The bills carried the name of “Sam’s Collection Agency” and the phone numbers listed turned out to be those of the Bank of America, the San Francisco “Chronicle” and two television stations. Why the false bills? “The entire financial system of the world is in the phones and the mail,” Keyser told a press conference. If both were jammed continuously for a substantial time, he said, banks would collapse, money and power would be shared and there would be “direct, true democracy.” Their demonstration was. he said, “the perfect way to destroy all establishments.”
