Nelson firm in project

Wonder Foods Ltd, of Nelson, is to join with two Japanese companies in a project to process and distribute local fish, the Jiji Press agency reports. The report says the project, to be launched in June, will be capitalised at $lOO,OOO with Wonder Foods contributing 50 per cent. The Hokuyo Suisan (Fishery) company will contribute 35 per cent, with the remainder made up by C. Itoh and Company, of Japan. The head office of the new concern will be in Nelson, where Hokuyo’s president, Mr Hideo Hiya, is discussing details with Wonder Foods, including the name of the new company, officers, and detailed business plans. The report says that under the present plans the firm will set up facilities to process barracuda in the initial year. From the second year it plans to undertake fishing as well for resources such as octopuses, cuttlefish, and bonito.
Mr N. G. Moss has been appointed deputy principal of Shirley Boys’ High School. Mr Moss will take up the position at the beginning of the second term. At present head of the mathematics department at Upper Hutt College, he has taught in London, at Gisborne Boys’ High School and at Lytton High School, Gisbome.
