Another jackpot

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 21. The jackpot “king,” Mr N. Grant, of Christchurch, struck again last night when he and an Auckland man shared a payout of $44,074.50 at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park.

It was the seventeenth time Mr Grant had won a jackpot. He said it boosted his gross returns from “pots” in a little more than a year to a staggering $148,000. To win this amount, he estimated last night it had cost him about $46,000. Mr Grant spent $3645 on the A.T.C. jackpot and so had 7290 combinations running for him. In the last of the six jackpot races, he had 10 of the 14 runners.

The other winner, who wished to remain anonymous invested $24. Mr Grant, until a year ago worked on the counter at the High Street Post Office. He is now an art dealer. He says he will “have a go” at the jackpot to be run at the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting next month
