Reaction of N.Z. troops

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyrisht! SAIGON, March 21. Two New Zealand artillerymen at an isolated fire support base in South Vietnam’s Phuoe Tuy Province had rather mixed feelings after learning of their Government’s decision to withdraw its artillery battery. Gunner R. Pirret, of Murupara, in the Bay of Plenty, who is three months into his second tour in South Vietnam, was not at all enthusiastic.

"I’m up here for the money,” he said. Lieutenant C. Flinkenberg, of Auckland, said the decision to recall the battery in May would only reduce his time in the country by one month. The two members of the New Zealand battery are at present acting as forward observers at fire support base Beth, 10 miles west of the Australian task force base at Nui Dat.
