Bulk cargoes at port
Bulk cargoes frequently arrive at Lyttelton but it is unusual to have three ships in port discharging bulk cargoes simultaneously. The Crystal Magnolia is discharging 5000 tons of potash from California. The Risdon arrived from Tasmania on Thursday with 3300 tons of bulk sulphate of ammonia and the Rosina Topic is due today from Port Sulphur in the United States with 5000 tons of sulphur foi discharge.
Four more bulk cargoes are due at Lyttelton before the end of this month. The Apollonius, Tropwood and Federal McKenzie will each discharge 5000 tons of Nauru phosphate and the Roybank will discharge 1900 tons of bulk soda ash from the United States.
