Airport parking
Sir, —Since I last wrote on this subject I have received two "tickets” for parking overnight in the all-day parking area at Harewood. On the first occasion Airport Services, Ltd, left the car in the area, on my instructions, on a Thursday. I was due back from Wellington that day, but my business detained me until the Friday. On the next occasion I decided to take Mr Jamieson’s advice and unload my bags before parking the car. But the queue at the check-in counter was about 10 deep, and there were crowds of Sunday visitors. So I took my bags back to the car, and drove to the all-day parking area to save a route march, with bags, from the overnight park. To cap it all, when I attempted to pay my parking fee the next time I was at the airport there was no-one on duty at the information service counter. —Yours, etc., A. C. BEGG. Mount Somers, February 21, 1971.
[The airport manager (Mr A. I. R. Jamieson) replies: “Mr Begg’s problems are regretted, as the system is working satisfactorily for most users. The information service counter at the airport is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.”]
