PASTORAL QUEEN
CN.Z Press Association)
NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 24. A 20-year-old student nurse, Miss Mary Williams, of Okato, is the Taranaki Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s pastoral queen for 1971. She was declared the winner of the contest before a large crowd by the society’s president, Mr T. Bannister, at the show in New Plymouth. Her prize is a wool suit, and she will now take part in the regional finals. If successful, Miss Williams will then go forward to the national finals in Dunedin in June. The winner of these will have a trip to England and Canada to promote New Zealand’s pastoral industry.
