SYDENHAM FIRE
Fire slightly damaged the wall of a Sydenham house yesterday morning. The fire broke out in a macrocarpa hedge adjacent to the house, at 89 Shakespeare Road, about 11.30 a.m., but firemen from the Sydenham and Christchurch Central stations were in time to prevent the blaze spreading further.
Boxing. K. Buchanan, Britain’s world light-weight champion, will be unable to box for three months because of a perforated ear drum. He suffered the injury during his successful title defence against R. Navarro in Los Angeles 10 days ago. Eliminated. B. MacGechan
(N.Z.), scored only one victory and was eliminated from the Rene Bonal epee tournament in Paris.
