(N.Z.P. A. .Reuter—Copyright) PARIS The French State-owned tobacco company announced yesterday it was extending its activities to motor racing by backing two Formula 111 cars this season. The two Brabham cars, driven by the Frenchmen, J, P. Lafosse and P. F. Rousselot, will be painted in the blue and red colours of a packet of “Francaises” cigarettes, the company said.
Rugby league.—The former New Zealand Rugby league International, K. Dixon, made his first appearance in Sydney first grade football last night in a trial for Cronulla against Manly. Cronulla has an option to buy Dixon at the end of the pre-season rounds.
