Old soldiers always...

“Old soldiers never die —they only hold reunions,” said Mr J. K. Moloney, principal speaker at the reunion dinner of the Canterbury branch of New Zealand Rifle Brigade in Christchurch last evening. More than 100 “Dinks”, and their wives, attended, recalling with nostalgia the time when they volunteered to fight in the First World War. Guests of honour included Brigadier L. A. Kermode, officer commanding Southern Command, and Captain C. H. Upham, V.C. and Bar.

Songs of 1914-18 vintage and the growing sadness of the toast “to absent friends” marked the reunion.
