He won the 200 metres title a week before. Glancing apprehensively across the track is the 1970 provincial 400 metres champion, S. W. Cowles (University-Shirley). He finished out of a place. Cochrane will represent Canterbury in both the 100 and 200 metres at the New Zealand championships at Inglewood on February 26 and 27.
