East XI’s loss

The East-Shirley senior cricket team lost a valuable member of its attack recently with the transfer to Wellington of A. C. Nottingham. His medium-fast bowling into the wind last season won Nottingham Canterbury B representation, and he was East-Shirley’s leading bowler, in his first season with the club, with 26 wickets at 21.2 runs each. This year, Nottingham was again fairly prominent, although he had to bear a bigger burden with the departure in the winter of B. R. Taylor. He took 20 wickets—at an average of 24.3—and was also very useful with the bat, especially early in the season. At on? stage, Nottingham had a batting average of 61, and scores—batting at number 11—included 20 and 24 not out.
