Laying off men
Two Italian car manufacturers will lay off more than 40,000 workers for three days next week because of shortages of plastic parts for their cars. In separate communiques, the Fiat company said it would lay off 37,000 workers at its main Turin plants, and the Lancia company said it would lay off about 3200 men at two of its plants in Turin.
