Winners give church $000

WELLINGTON, Feb. 14.
The members of the Wellington Greek syndicate which won the $652,255 racing jackpot last month have carried out their intention of donating $5OOO to the Greek Orthodox Church. A member of the church building fund committee, Mr V. Paraphilippou, said he had received a cheque and a letter from the 25 members of the syndicate. Previously the syndicate had considered withdrawing the donation after a newspaper had reported a church priest as criticising the amount offered.
