Harihari No. 1

New . Zealand Petroleum Company, Ltd, announced today that the Harihari No. 1 well has reached a depth of 3000 ft, and that 9 5-Bin casing has been run and cemented. Preparations are now being made to resume normal drilling.

Westmex quarter Westmex, Ltd, in its quarterly report to December 31, reports mineralisation in two percussion holes at Mulgarrie, Western Australia. Values obtained indicated that further percussion or auger drilling was warranted, the company states. Plans were ■ well advanced for an exploration programme in the company’s Kimberleys areas, in Western Australia. During the quarter, exploration costs totalled $75,000. Offer withdrawn The directors of Longreach Oil, Ltd, announced that they had received notice from Trendex Mineral Corporation advising that in accordance with undertakings given by

Trendex to them by the Supreme Court of Victoria, they were now unable to proceed with a take-over offier, notice of intention of which had previously been delivered to Longreach Oil.

Cocks Eldorado

The chairman of Cocks Eldorado, NL (Mr C. Wallace Smith) told the company’s annual meeting that further field work in the Camel Bore region indicated a favourable structure, continuing north of the previous exploration area, but as a relatively narrow formation. Some'preliminary investigations were carried out on other prospects submitted to the company but they were not considered of sufficient interest to continue.”

C.S.R.-Fiji talks The Fiji Government may meet Colonial Sugar Refining Company officials soon for further talks on the company’s withdrawal from Fiji.
