SHOOTING EVENTS

Proposals for Games

A maximum of two competitors in each shooting event and 10 members in a team for the 1974 Commonwealth Games, were among the recommendations which will be made to the British Commonwealth Games Federation after a meeting of national shooting and Christchurch Games officials at the week-end.

They inspected the West Melton range and the Christchurch Gun Club’s trapshooting (Yaldhurst) and small bore (Harewood) ranges, and also met New Zealand Army and county council members.

The proposed programme of events, together with venues and finance, were the main topics of discussion.. The following events (and their venues) were recommended: —

7.62 calibre Queen’s series, West Melton; .22 cal. 50 metres English match, Harewood; trap shooting (single rise and skeet), Yaldhurst; .22 cali. 50 metres free pistol, 25 metres rapid fire pistol and 50 metres .22 cal. running game, all at Harewood
