Death in harbour
A doctor aboard a speeding motor-boat tried in vain for 10 minutes to revive a 56-year-old man who fell from a yacht in Lyttelton Harbour on Saturday. The dead man was Wilfred Sydney Edward Hamilton, of 10 Kensing-
ton Avenue, St Albans
Mr Hamilton was standing at the stem of the yacht Ocean Maid about two miles east of Pile Bay when he collapsed and fell into the sea.
Dr M. R. Mowat, who was aboard Mr K. Smart’s speedboat Mosquito, saw him fall and raced to the spot. Mr Hamilton was already unconscious and Dr Mowat immediately applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation as they sped back to Lyttelton, but his efforts were unsuccessful. The cause of death was not known last evening.
