THE ORIGINAL MAFFEY HOMESTEAD, a sod house, is attached to the back of the cottage shown in this photograph. The wooden additions were made later and roofing iron was put over the shingles about 1930. This photograph was taken about 1900. The house is still standing and was occupied by Miss Hilda Maffey until 1967. She died on January 3, aged 83.
