Invercargill wool prices steady

(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, February 5. Prices for good-length and sound fleece were unchanged on the second day of the Invercargill wool sale today, compared with the first day.

The offering of 21,972 bales was, as for the first day, made up of 66 per cent ewe fleece, 6 per cent shorn hoggets, 4 per cent lambs and the balance the usual oddments. Compared with the first day, said the official report, the market could be quoted for good length and sound fleece as unchanged, tender and shorter fleece in buyers’ favour, second lambs* 2) per cent easier, oddments unchanged. The sale progressed at a steady rate, the main competition coming from the Continent and Eastern Europe, with some support from New Zealand mills.
