UNIVERSITY VACANCIES THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND SENIOR LECTURESHIP IN MUSIC THE University Intends to establish a Department of Music within the Faculty of Arts, to offer courses commencing In March. 1972. Applications are invited for a foundation appointment to take up duties in the latter half of 1971 to allow time to plan and develop the courses to be given in 1972. Appointment of additional staff to the Department will be made when the development of course offerings and student enrolments warrants this. For all positions the work will be varied and Interesting with prospects of promotion and witb opportunities for further study. The salary for each appointment will be at an appropriate point on the Grade I Technicians scale which currently begins at $2218 per annum and rises by five automatic annual increments to $3913. The starting dates will be arranged by negotiation but all except the PHYSICS appointee will be expected to commence duties as soon as possible. Preference will be given to applicants with appropriate New Zealand Certificate or University qualifications. For EDUCATION, PSYCHOLOGY and especially for PHYSICS, a knowledge of electronics and a mechanical bent is important. For GEOGRAPHY the appointee will be expected to acquire skills in draughting and photographic work and to supervise the map and reprint collections and teaching and research equipment.
