BURNSIDE RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB (Inc.) PRE-SEASON TRAINING TRAINING for the 1971 season, commences for all open grades and under 19 players, on Wednesday, February 10, at the Club grounds, Bumside Park. A special course of 5 weekly sessions is programmed to commence next Wednesday and all Senior Reserve Squads and under 19 players should attend. Phone 599-270 30400 COMMISSION OF INQUIRY INTO EQUAL PAY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that: 1- The terms of reference of the Commission of Inquiry into Equal Pay are to receive representations upon, inquire into and report upon how best to give effect in New Zealand to the principle of equal pay for male and female employees; and, in particular, to receive representations upon, inquire into, and report upon the following matters: (1) A suitable formula to be adopted in giving effect to the principle of equal pay, having regard, inter alia, to the provisions of International Labour Organisation Convention 100. (2) The most desirable means of giving effect to the principle of equal pay. (3) The extent to which existing provisions, whether statutory or contained in awards or agreements or of any other kind, inhibit the application of equal pay, any justification for such provisions, and the means of removing unjustified provisions. (4) The timing of the introduction of equal pay, the machinery for introducing equal pay and the economic implications of the timing and the machinery. (5) The economic and social implications for the nation and for specific groups of the introduction of equal pay. (6) Any associated matters that you consider relevant to the general objects of the inquiry. 2. Any organisation or person who wishes to present submissions to the Commission should register notice of intention to do so by letter reaching the Secretary of the Commission not later than Tuesday, February 23. 1971. 3. Any organisation or person wishing to be recognised as a party to the Inquiry should advise the Secretary of the Commission accordingly by letter reaching the Secretary not later than Tuesday, February 23, 1971. Organisations and persons recognised as parties by the Commission will be entitled to be represented by Counsel, and may cross-examine those presenting submissions. 4. The Commission proposes to: (a) hold its first public session at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 1971, in the Conference Room on the Second Floor, 44-46 The Terrace, Wellington. At this session it will decide, after receiving any representations, who shall be recognised as the parties before the Commission and will advise parties of the procedure which it proposes to follow. (b) hold further public sessions on the following dates: March 30, 31, and April 1; April 13, 14 and 15; April 20, 21 and 22, 1971. (c) hold such further public sessions in the remainder of April and in May as are necessary. 5. The Commission may decide, if necessary, to sit elsewhere than in Wellington.
