City to mark Waitangi
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, January 8. The observance of Waitangi Day in Palmerston North, on February 6, as part of the city’s centenary celebrations, will be a unique occasion. It will be the first time that Waitangi I Day has beer
celebrated away from Waitangi. It will also be the first time that the Maori queen Dame Te Atairangikaahu, has taken a principal role in Waitangi Day celebrations. The Mayor of Palmerston I North (Mr D. B. Black) will .confer the freedom of the city ion her; the first time that an individual has been so honi cured. ,
