Silver Knight goes well at Awapuni
“The Press” Special Service
PALMERSTON NORTH.
B. F. Andrew’s bad luck has turned to the good for a fellow Takanini rider, R. J. Skelton. Andrews was suspended at Te Aroha on Saturday, so that most bf his Wanganui mounts have now gone to Skelton. One of them is Silver Knight, which came through his final trial in good style at Awapuni this morning.
Silver Knight has 7-6 in the Birch Handicap. Skelton has been riding light lately, and has contracted to be at 7-8 for the
| grey. Silver Knight proved too good yesterday for Gold Mint when ■they worked over seven furlongs on the plough, which was ■ fairly deep. Silver Knight came to the post clear in Imin 34sec, [the last three furlongs in 39 Gold Mint is still fairly burly, and will probably need his race iln the Western High-weight. Aristoc and Tree Tops Aristoc and Tree Tops were also matched over seven furlongs. They took Imin 34sec, the same time recorded by Silver Knight. They ran the last three in 39 2-ssec, both working well. Aristoc had much the worse of the weights. Aristoc had a minor set-back last week but missed no work. iHe will be fancied for the Birch j Handicap. W. D. Skelton rides him, and also has the mount in the Auckland Cup.
Score was better than Bargain Boy at the finish of a good six furlongs in Imin 18 2-ssec, the last three in 35 2-ssec. Score usually excels in training. Go Gay did better than Lancer at the end of five furlongs in Imin ssec, the last three in 40 4-ssec. Wiritoa and Judy Durham were clear of Cuban Queen at the end of half a mile in the good time of 51sec, the last three furlongs in 38sec. Not to start G. Ivil said yesterday that My Opinion will not start in the Western High-weight at Wanganui. He will be reserved for Mastertan.
