Boiler staff ruling given
(W.Z. Press Association; AUCKLAND, Dec. 6. Six boiler attendants who were dismissed in October from employment at Cornwall Hospital because of a dispute have been found by the Arbitration Court to be entitled to be regarded as shift workers. In a decision received today Judge Blair said the roster system the men worked was an unusual one but the men should, on all sectors of the roster, be regarded and treated for remuneration as shift workers. Since the men were dismissed, the boilers at the hospital have been manned by volunteers but it is expected that automatic boilers will be brought into use this week, so the attendants will not be needed.
