Game played indoors (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. The Canterbury team proved much too strong for West Coast In a representative tennis match, played In Greymouth on Sunday. Because of rain there was no possibility of play outdoors and restricted games were played In the civic centre building. The score, in favour of Canterbury ww IS matches to one, the only West Cowt win being that of H. Havlll (Westport) who defeated the Canterbury No. 2 player, D. Howarth. Scores, with Canterbury players named first, were:— Men’s singles.—L. Legge beat N. Sadler, El; D. Howarth loot to H. Havlll. 34; I. Stanton beat R. Hibbs E2; C. Hunt beat R. Todd, 6-5. Women’s slngles.—J. HabgoOd beat S. Bruhn, 6-1; G. Hampton beat N. Todd, 6-1; P. James beat S. Brown, 6-3; E. Dunne beat N. Tuck, El. Men’s doubles.—Legge and Stanton beat Havlll and Todd, 9-8; Howarth and Hunt beat Sadler and Hibbs, 9-5. Women’s doubles.—J. Habgood and G. Hampton beat S. Bruhn and N. Todd, 9-2; P. James and E. Dunne beat S. Brown and N. Tuck, 9-2. Mixed doubles.—Legge and J. Habgood beat Havill and S. Bruhn, 9-3; Howarth and G. Hampton beat Sadler and S. Brown, El; Stanton and P. James beat Todd and N. Todd. 9-4; Hunt and E. Dunne beat Hibbs and N. Tuck, 9-2.
