Honour for nurse
Miss Rae was also presented with the R.S.A. certificate of merit by the president of the Christchurch R.S.A. (Mr J. Green). Miss Rae served with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the Middle East and Italy as a nursing sister (with the rank of lieutenant). She has been a member of the Christchurch R.S.A. executive for the last 11 years. Until she retired earlier this year, Miss Rae was superintendent of the Nurse Maude Christchurch District Nursing Association, and during her work for the association assisted many returned servicemen and women.
She is president of the Christchurch Soroptimists’ Club. In a brief speech of thanks, Miss Rae said the R.S.A. executive members were a “grand bunch of chaps” who had always been kind, courteous and helpful. She hoped to continue to assist the Christchurch R.S.A. in any way she could.
