Colonel L. W. Wright, Chief of Staff at Headquarters, Home Command, Wellington, has been appointed commander, New Zealand Army Force Far East, with his headquarters in Singapore. He replaces the present commander. Colonel R. W. K. Ainge, who will return to New Zealand to take up a new appontment. Commander M. N. Waymouth, Royal New Zealand Navy, has taken up the post of head of New Zealand’s defence liaison staff in Singapore. He was formerly deputy Director of Navy Plans and Operational Requireiments at Navy Headquarters, I Wellington. | Mr B. S. McMillan, who [has been tutor specialist orIthopaedic surgeon for the North Canterbury Hospital Board since January, will take up a position as specialist orthopaedic surgeon with the Otago Hospital Board this (month. Mr McMillan, who I comes from Dunedin, recently gained a degree of master of orthopaedic surgery at Liverpool University. Messrs J. C. Meale, H. W. Hunter, J. H. Miller, and D. L. Wood have been appointed members of the Survey Board. Messrs Miller and Wood represent the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors. Mr R. D. Dick, chief soil conservator for the North Canterbury Catchment Board will attend the first Australian national soil conservation! conference, to be held at Mel bourne next May.
