FERRYMEAD PROGRESS
Steady progress is being made in the establishment of the working railway museum at Ferrymead, according to the preservation officer of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society (Mr R. W. Sutherland). Referring to an editorial in “The Press” on December 3, Mr Sutherland said that the Minister of Railway’s plan to run a vintage steam train for tourists on the Kingston branch was commendable, but the train would rarely be seen by most citizens. The Ferrymead railway would feature restored and working locomotives and rolling stock, buildings, and lineside structures.
A large quantity of equipment has been collected and awaits restoration.
