INVITED TO NEW YORK

A choir from a New Zealand university will go to New York for nearly a month in early 1972, provided the 40 members and the public can raise the $32,000 required for the venture.

Mr James R. Bjorge, director of the University Choral Festival, which is held every three years in the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York, with invited choirs from many parts of the world, is in New Zealand to audition choirs.

Mr Bjorge is auditioning the Auckland University Choir, comprising students and immediate past graduates, and choirs in Wellington and Dunedin. Later an invitation will be issued to one of them to make the trip. Choirs taking part are expected to meet the cost of their round-trip air fares—s7lo now on a group basis —but the center will pay all their internal costs during the 24-day visit.
