DEATH OF SIRE
The Australian-bred stallion, Sedgewick, died in his sleep at Mr D. B. C. Allin’s Morwenstow Stud. Kaiapoi, late last week. . A chestnut son of Wilkes of good size and ideal temperament, Sedgewick was foaled in 1959 and won six races. His half-brother. Todwana, won $30,780. Sedgewick was bought for Morwenstow Stud on the recommendation of the Adelaide trainer, C. S. Hayes, as a likely! type to produce quick sprinters,! and from his first crop came His' Surprise, which set a track re-' cord for five furlongs when he won at the Marlborough Racing Club's meeting last autumn.
