NEW GIRL REPORTER
Lis Ferris, slim, fair, and lively, is the new reporter for “This Week in Britain.” Bom and brought up in London, she dived for Great Britain in the 1960 Rome Olympics and is a doctor of medicine. At the age of 17, Lis Ferris entered* Middlesex Hospital Medical School, part of London University At the same time, she continued a rigorous diving training. After the Commonwealth Games at Perth, she took .a break from medical school and stayed in Australia, where she had friends. While in Sydney, she acted in a television play. Returning to London from Australia, she finished her medical studies and worked with a team at the Medical Research Council investigating physical stress and endurance in athletes. In recent years, Lis Ferris has given up medicine to concentrate on freelance television and radio. With the advantages of her own experience, she has a splendid basis for the interviews, commentaries, and background research she does on a wide range of subjects—with sport, science, medicine, and human-angle themes predominating.
