PROTEST PLANS

(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright? SYDNEY, Nov. 23. Pope Paul will be faced with a demonstration organised by a Protestant suporter from New Zealand of the Rev. lan Paisley when he takes part in an ecumenical service during his visit to Sydney next week. Plans for the demonstration were revealed yesterday by the Rev. F. Channing, a New Zealand pastor whose invitation to Dr Paisley to come to Australia to join in opposition to the Pope was thwarted by the Federal Government.

“The service will be a sell-out of true Biblical Protestantism by so-called Protestant leaders in Australia,” said Mr Channing, after his arrival from New Zealand, where he is pastor of the Palmerston North Bible Presbyterian Church. Mr Channing—who did not outline the extent of the support he expects to have—said that he objected tn the Pope’s being given a “Royal welcome” by the Australian Government when there was no willingness to do the same for Dr Paisley.
