F.T.C. expects sales of a740m
The Farmers’ Trading Company, Ltd, Auckland, achieved record sales and profit for the half year to September 30, the directorti say in an interim report. \ Sales for the period exceeded $2O million, and they confidently expect that they will exceed $4O million for the full year. While all sections of the company’* business showed Improved results, its 64 branch stores benefited particularly from a redevelopment programme which enabled them to better display a greater range of merchandise than previously. “The next half-year wil have to bear the full cost b wage increases and payroll tax, both of which affected only the latter part of the period under review. , “At this stage it is difficult to forecast if the expected sales increase in the current period will fully offset these extra costs,” they say.
