WOMAN’S TRIAL
Guilty on 69 counts (NJ!. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. After a six-day trial, a former company secretary, Diana Margaret Jamed, was found guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court at Auckland today on 69 charges involving theft and intent to defraud. The jury added a recommendation to mercy. Mr Justice Henry remanded Jamed, on bail, until Friday for sentence. Jamed, a 35-year-old widow, had pleaded not guilty to 34 charges of theft as a servant and 35 charges of intent to defraud. The offences took place between August, 1967, and June this year, while Jamed was secretary of Entertainments (N.Z.), Ltd, owner of the Peter Pan Cabaret in Queen Street. The money involved in the theft charges totalled about $BOOO.
